On 24 September, Ion Cojocaru and Andrei Zolotoi represented NextPax alongside destination leaders, policymakers, operators and channel partners in Chișinău for the Moldova Tourism Forum 2026. The message from the stage was clear: Moldova has more international attention today than at any point in its modern history, and the time to turn that attention into lasting demand is now.
Organised by Moldova's National Tourism Office under the "unexpectedly cozy Moldova" brand, the forum brought together speakers from government, international tourism organisations and industry. Here are the takeaways that matter most for accommodation providers and their distribution strategy.
In its session "Driving Growth in Moldova: AI, Market Trends and Demand", Booking.com shared that stayed room nights in 2026 exceeded 2025 levels in every month from January through August. Average daily rates also held slightly above last year, so the growth has not come at the expense of price.
Families were the fastest-growing traveller segment, while couples remain the largest. Ukraine is still by far the biggest source market, followed by Romania, domestic Moldovan travellers and Germany, with the UK, Italy, the USA and Turkey also contributing.
Booking.com highlighted four behaviours that shape how Moldovan properties should sell:
Speakers framed Moldova's position as an opportunity with a deadline. The destination is authentic and not yet oversaturated, EU accession is adding credibility and investment, and its wine, gastronomy and rural hospitality give it a distinct identity. Proximity to the war in Ukraine brings real challenges, from perceived instability to pressure on infrastructure, but it has also brought global visibility and new inbound interest from across Europe.
The strategic marketing session set out practical priorities: positioning Moldova as a regenerative destination, building a national tourism intelligence platform, developing experience infrastructure such as trails and cycling routes, partnering with major tour operators, and reaching travellers through many smaller, targeted channels. New air links support the momentum, with airBaltic promoting routes from Chișinău to the Baltics and Nordics.
When demand is short-notice, mobile-first and spread across many markets, visibility and accuracy are everything. Properties need live availability and rates on the channels travellers in each source market actually use, instant confirmation, and flexible rate options, all without the manual work of managing each channel separately.
That is exactly where NextPax helps. One connection gives Moldovan accommodation providers and their software partners access to 100+ global distribution channels, with real-time synchronisation of availability, rates, restrictions and reservations.
